For the occasion of Navratri, Air India has decided to launch a festive friendly vrat menu for its passengers, until the 30th of September. Available on all ex-India flights, the line-up of dishes include malai paneer tikka, sabudana khichdi with a crunchy salli topping, sabudana vada, vratwaale shahi aloo, samak jeera rice, tale aloo ki chaat and singhade ki puri. In addition to this, the menu also features sweet offerings such as khatta-meetha sitaphal, phalahari kheer and curd with fruits. With the intent of providing travellers with nourishing meals on a journey, the menu is also open to those wishing to sample some of the special dishes irrespective of whether they’re observing a fast.

The sattvic meals, curated with traditional ingredients, are meant to provide passengers with a festive experience even while flying, while also enabling healthier food options for them in transit. Keeping all the fasting requirements in mind, the inclusive menu aims to aid travellers engage with local customs as well as boost cultural tourism - showcasing India’s rich heritage and tradition through in-flight dining experiences. The festive meal, in collaboration with Gourmair, is priced at ₹500 and also includes delicacies like suji halwa made from scratch and a cup of warm herbal tea to pair with the food.

Aside from this, the usual meal options of vegetarian, vegan, poultry, eggetarian, diabetic-friendly and weight-watching are also available for those who prefer to opt for them. Showcasing Indian cuisine specialties such as mini idlis, medu vada, upma and even fried rice with manchurian, the menu is a mixture of contemporary and light meals, desserts and snacks. In addition, the airline has also joined forces with the delivery platform - Zomato - to introduce its Maharaja Club loyalty program. The concept, which adds 2% Maharaja Points for every order worth ₹499 and above, enables travellers to claim rewards in exchange. Passengers who enroll for the loyalty program through the delivery app will also be awarded 2,000 points at the beginning, once they complete their first flight with Air India.
