A rich Indian dessert made by slow-cooking grated root vegetables with milk, sugar, ghee, and cardamom, garnished with nuts, offering a sweet, melt-in-mouth treat for festive occasions.
2 cups grated ash gourd (petha) 1 cup milk ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste) 2 tbsp ghee ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped nuts (cashews, almonds)
Heat ghee in a pan, add grated ash gourd, and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Pour in the milk and cook over medium heat until the ash gourd is soft.
Add sugar and continue cooking until the mixture thickens.
Stir in cardamom powder and half of the nuts.
Garnish with the remaining nuts and serve warm.
