How To Make Red Poha? Easy And Nutritious Recipe For Breakfast

Red poha is a wholesome and nutritious dish made using red flattened rice (red rice flakes), which is richer in fibre and minerals compared to white poha. It’s light, filling, and perfect for breakfast or a quick snack.

Ingredients

1 cup red poha 1 finely chopped onion 1–2 slit green chillies 1 grated carrot 1 diced potato 8-10 curry leaves ½ tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tbsp peanuts or cashews (optional for crunch) 2 tbsp oil Salt to taste Fresh coriander leaves for garnish Lemon juice to taste

Step 1

Wash red poha gently in water, drain, and let it rest for 5 minutes to soften.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and peanuts, and sauté until they crackle.

Step 3

Add onions, green chillies, and sauté until onions turn translucent.

Step 4

Add carrot and potato, cook until tender, then add turmeric and salt.

Step 5

Gently mix in the soaked poha, stir well, and cook for 3–4 minutes on a low flame.

Step 6

Switch off the heat, garnish with coriander and lemon juice, then serve hot
