Rice Kheer: A Must-Have Part Of Ashtami, Navami Thali

Rice kheer is also an indispensable part of Ashtami and Navami bhog. It is served with puri, sooji halwa, and spiced chana. It is filling, nourishing, and lip-smacking. Here is how you can make it at home.

Ingredients

¼ cup water 4 cups milk 4-6 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp raisins ½ tsp cardamom powder ¼ cup rice ¼ cup unsalted nuts

Step 1

Soak small rice grains in water and keep them aside.

Step 2

Heat milk in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Meanwhile, pound nuts.

Step 3

Add sugar and stir to dissolve it. Fold in rice.

Step 4

Add water and let the rice cook until the grains are soft.

Step 5

Sprinkle raisins, nuts, and cardamom powder.
