Irrespective of the weather and season, tomato rasam is a flavourful stew to indulge in. It is tangy, nourishing, and goes well with steamed rice. Here is an easy recipe.
For Rasam ⅛ tsp turmeric powder 3-4 tomatoes 3 cups water 1-2 tbsp jaggery ¾ tsp salt ¼ cup coriander leaves For Powder ¼ tsp methi seeds, pepper 1.5 tsp cumin seeds 1 red chilli
For Tempering ½ tsp mustard seeds 7-8 curry leaves 1.5 tbsp ghee 2-3 garlic cloves ½ tsp cumin seeds A pinch of hing 1 red chilli
To prepare rasam powder, dry roast the spices and turn them into a smooth blend.
Heat oil in a pan and saute mustard seeds, red chilli, curry leaves, cumin seeds, hing, and chopped garlic.
Chop the tomatoes and add them to the pan. Pour water in the pan.
Sprinkle turmeric powder, salt, and jaggery.
Let the rasam simmer on low heat for 10 minutes and garnish it with coriander leaves.
