While one would imagine Dubai to cater to some luxurious palates and feature some over-the-top offerings at restaurants and cafes, one chain of coffee shops bagged the Guinness Book of World Records for retailing the most expensive cup of coffee at a whopping $680 or 2,500 AED. The chain’s flagship outlet located at Boulevard Downtown demonstrated the preparation of the beverage using the rare Panama Esmeralda Geisha beans which was hand-poured with the help of a V60 dripper and served in a Edo Kiriko crystal glass. The coffee was served along with a portion of Geisha bean infused tiramisu, chocolate ice cream as well as a piece of signature chocolate to offer the full range of the experience.
The coffee beans, which are celebrated for their floral aroma and layered tropical fruit notes, was prepared for the customer at the table using a temperature-controlled tap. The chain, which enjoys a reputation of being a luxury coffeehouse, purchased the 20-kg lot of washed Geisha coffee from Hacienda La Esmeralda farm for $604 at the ‘Best of Panama 2025’ auction. The customer who opted for the experience was also offered information cards to read more about the beans as well as the technique with which the coffee was prepared. The hand-crafted crystal serving glass which was sourced from Japan, also featured elegant motifs on its bottle green body.
