What are some of your all-time favourite foods?
Where do I even start? I truly love food, so it’s hard to pick just a few! But if I had to name my all-time favourites, mutton with palak (spinach), chicken bhuna masala, Thai massaman curry, and Larb Gai top the list. It’s a mix of Indian spices, Thai soul, and just pure comfort. Honestly, I have too many favourites to count; food is my happy place!
Do you follow a specific diet?
I don’t follow any strict diet, but I’m very intentional about how I eat. I dedicate at least one day a week to going fully vegetarian; it’s become a ritual I love. Over time, I’ve swung between keto and calorie counting, depending on what my body needs. More than anything, I try to be mindful: What am I putting into my body, and how will it serve me? That thought really guides my choices now.
What is your favourite cheat meal?
Oh, without a doubt, burgers and pizza (with fries, of course!). But then again, butter chicken with naan is right up there, too. It really depends on the day and the craving. I’m a true believer in balance, eat clean, but indulge well!
What’s your fondest childhood memory of food? Do you still enjoy that?
I have a very vivid memory of loving Kraft’s boxed macaroni and cheese and those classic American hot dogs as a kid. At the time, I thought they were the height of gourmet! But looking back, I kind of feel bad for my younger self, not the healthiest choices for a growing child. Let’s just say, they no longer make the cut in my adult kitchen!
While on shoots and events, what are some snacks you love to munch on?
When I’m on set, I actually stick to a pretty consistent food routine. Breakfast is usually a masala omelette (extra green chillies!) with one slice of toast and butter. For lunch, it’s full-fat Greek yoghurt with fresh blueberries and a hearty veggie subzi. I love the one with aloo and gobi. Dinner is typically chicken tikka with a roomali roti and extra onions. If the munchies hit, I go for Himalayan salt makhana, plantain chips, or crunchy chakli. Once, I remember eating the same spicy masala omelette for ten days straight on a long shoot, and I never got tired of it!
Tea or coffee? What’s your pick?
I used to be a hardcore coffee person, but these days, I’m all about masala chai. Strong, spiced, and comforting, it’s become my daily ritual.
What is your go-to dessert?
If I’m in a healthy mood, it’s two spoonfuls of peanut butter with chopped banana and some 85% dark chocolate; it feels indulgent but still clean. But when I’m in full-on dessert mode? Chocolate wins. Always. I love the brownies from Little Miss Baker, triple chocolate chip cookies from Ben’s Cookies, or literally any cake from Magnolia Bakery. Sweet tooth = satisfied.
Do you cook often? What are some of your favourite recipes?
I absolutely love to cook; it's therapeutic for me. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, whether it’s a spicy Thai curry, a rich Indian dish, or a comforting Italian classic. Eggplant parmigiana is one of my favourites to make, and I once nailed a kung pao chicken that blew even my own mind. Recently, I made a chickpea and sweet potato curry with riced cauliflower for my veggie day; it was wholesome and delicious.
Where did you grow up? Any must-try dishes from your hometown?
I grew up in the heart of New York City, a place where the world’s cuisines are just a subway ride away. NYC is like its own little universe of cultures, and I always say growing up there was not the same as growing up in the rest of the U.S. If you ever visit, the famous halal cart food is an absolute must. But really, the joy of eating in New York is all about exploration. Wander the streets, try different neighbourhoods, and let your taste buds take you on a journey.
